SR 878/Snapper Creek Expressway LED Lighting Conversion
The SR 878/Snapper Creek Expressway LED Lighting Conversion is underway, with construction having begun in May 2026. This $6.95 million safety improvement project will replace the High-Pressure Sodium lighting system with a new Smart LED system along the 2.75-mile corridor from US-1 to SR 874/Don Shula Expressway, delivering brighter, more energy-efficient illumination for drivers and pedestrians. On their daily commutes, drivers can expect to see intermittent lane closures and pedestrian detours at select intersections along SW 72nd and SW 87th Avenues, as well as moderate noise and traffic delays as construction progresses. Construction is scheduled to be completed in summer 2028.
Project Status: Construction has begun and is scheduled for completion Summer 2028.
